At today's final meeting, we reflected on our successful collaboration with our advisory group.
Over the past three years, we have been working on a definition of mental health for people with intellectual disabilities. For us, it was clear that people with learning disabilities must be involved in the entire research process from the very beginning. Only through participatory research can we ensure that our research truly reflects their reality. This led to the creation of our advisory group with Niki, Karin, Josef, and Robert.
The four co-researchers with learning disabilities supported us as experts in all phases of the project. In the process, we were able to gain important insights into mental health as well as the participatory research process itself.
Today, we wrapped up our collaboration on this project with an afternoon of snacks and coffee. We handed out certificates of participation to the co-researchers and celebrated what we had achieved together. We would like to say thank you and look forward to meeting each other again soon.
