Our PhD candidate Theresa Wagner has published a new paper exploring the experiences of people with intellectual disabilities in relation to colorectal cancer screening.

Through interviews and focus groups with people with intellectual disabilities, key barriers and facilitating factors influencing their participation in screening programs were identified. The findings reveal not only significant shortcomings within the healthcare system but also important starting points for improvement: from more accessible information and materials to mandatory training for professionals and the development of inclusive health services.

The study thus makes an important contribution toward making prevention and healthcare more equitable and inclusive for disadvantaged groups.
