Reinhold Schwarz Award for Psycho-Oncology 2024

In 2024, our research group leader, Elisabeth Zeilinger, received the Reinhold Schwarz Award for Psycho-Oncology at the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Psycho-Oncology Working Group of the German Cancer Society (DKG).

She was recognized for her study conducted in collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna, which examined the relationship between socioeconomic factors and the psychological burden of female cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The results clearly show that patients with lower income levels experience higher psychological distress – a finding that provides important insights for the further development of psycho-oncological care.
